Our Mission

In partnership with the people of Liberia, The Hope Project funds educational opportunities and community development. We support the teachers and students who will be the next leaders, active citizens, and innovators of Liberia.

Hope International has made education possible for many struggling families. Thank you for partnering with us here in Liberia

About Us

Beginning in 2000, several Washington State families adopted Liberian children, orphaned as a result of the Liberian civil wars. While staying in Liberia, friendships were formed that led to the cross-cultural partnership that exists today.

Initially, funds were sent that provided rice and the ability to improve the orphanage. What became clear is that education was what Liberians hoped for most. An old school compound no longer in use was found, teachers were hired, and in 2008, the tuition-free doors to Hope International School opened to 400 local children.

Today, we have over 1,300 students and 70+ Liberian teachers and staff.
