As summer winds down and the students in your life and community head back to the classrooms, students of Hope International are readying to do the same. Classes begin on September 8th and the campus is abuzz with activity and excitement. Registrations are being finalized and rooms are being readied.
Hope is entering 18 years of education, and it has been made possible through your partnership. Ordinary people doing extraordinary things through connection and generosity. Together in another year of Hope!
Do You Know?
Q: What was the third line of defense built along the northern border of France, starting from Belgium to Switzerland, which was held up through World War I, but bypassed by German forces in World War II.
A: Maginot Line (answered by Morris)
Q: Who was the father of the atomic bomb?
A: Julius Robert Oppenheimer (answered by Abraham)
Did you get them both right? Morris and Abraham did, two members of Hope International's 2024-2025 Quiz Team did.
The Hope International Quiz Team was the first club that formed on campus. The quiz game is a question-and-answer game in which knowledge or estimation questions are answered and teams compete against other schools throughout the area.
The team is coach by Amb. Bill Frank Bawn, Jr., and captained by student Amar Jusu, who is assisted by student Morris S. Korbah.
During the school year, the 7 members of the team practiced 2 afternoons per week.
While this is a long-term group, this year was a new team. They participated in their first tournament and went as far as the semifinals in the Stars Association of Liberia Quiz Competition.
The team shared what motivates them.
They also shared their favorite memory, "After losing the game against T. Williams School in the semifinals of the Stars Association of Liberia Quiz Competition, we got huge motivation from our coach and the school. Despite being defeated in the semifinals, the school celebrated us for the level we achieved, and that was a great moment for us, which stands out as our favorite memory."
Congratulations to the Hope International Quiz Team for their hard work and great showing this year. We are all behind you.
It's Fun to be in the P.T.A.
In 2022, a group of parents, led by Rev. Stanley K.D. Briscoe, revamped Hope International's P.T.A.
Rev. Briscoe, along with 6 other parents were elected to grow and improve the P.T.A. They have done that and so much more.
Rev. Stanley K.D. Briscoe
Serving as the link between home and school, they have brought together a community of parents, teachers, and students to support participation in school life. The association meets twice a month, and meetings often have over 100 people.
They have established an office on campus that Rev. Brisco opens three times a week for parents to come and seek information or assistance. He also holds a position on the school board, represent the parent's voice.
This year the P.T.A. held a fundraiser and were able to buy whiteboards for the high school classrooms.
We are a better school because of the commitment and service of the Hope International P.T.A.
