What is Chicken Sh*t Bingo?

On Friday, October 10th, Hope Project partners Amy Lewis and Scott Kreiter hosted FlannelFest, a barn-burner of a party to support Hope International's vocational programs. Thank you to Paul and Mary for bringing The Junebugs of Portland, Oregon who made it impossible not to dance. Thank you to Todo Rico for bringing the family love and delicious food. Even the chickens cooperated with three rousing rounds of chicken sh*t bingo (party goers purchased a number and if the chicken pooped on their square, they won the proceeds). Two out of the three winners donated their money right back to The Hope Project. Just over $4,000 was raised from the night!

Plans are already underway to make FlannelFest an annual event in Wenatchee, Washington.

Thank you to Amy and Scott for opening your hearts and your home and to all of those who attended. Thank you to our Hope community for all the ways you continue to show up and share with Hope.S

These Three

As students and families gathered to celebrate the Class of 2025, special honors were given to the top three graduates: Patrick Glaydor, Shirley Kolleh, and Amara Kromah. And then something unexpected happened. The commencement speaker, a Liberian humanitarian, who fled during the civil war and studied in the U.S., pledged a college scholarship to each of the top three students. How beautiful is that!

Please meet valedictorian Patrick Glaydor who credits his parents as the secret to his high performance. "They took the initiative to wake me up by 3:30 am to study my lessons."

Favorite Subject: Physics and Chemistry.

Future Dream: To become an electrical engineer.

Favorite Memories While at Hope International: The love, care, and attention from my friends and teachers. During lunch the snacks we share, the encouragement from one another.

Message to Teachers: To the teachers of Hope International, I want to say thank you for your tireless effort. The teachers sacrifice their time and patience to enlighten our minds and prepare us for our futures.

Thank you to our Hope community for your generosity. You too had a role in creating the opportunity for Patrick, Shirley, and Amara to shine.

A Time of Celebration!

On Saturday, October 11th, surrounded by their families and communities, 151 Class of 2025 students graduated from Hope International. Graduation in Liberia is such a celebration! Many of the family members of those graduating didn't have this opportunity and their graduate is the first. It was an evening of hope and surprise (tune in next week for an exciting update about the top 3 graduates).

Five graduates (Happy, Benjamin, Roland, G. Varney, and Rebecca) were honored as legacy students. These are students who have been at Hope International since Kindergarten.

Pictured are 2 of Hope's 5 Legacy students. Happy James and Benjamin Moore.

Congratulations to all of the graduates and their families. Well done! Thank you to this community for co-creating a place where hope resides.
