What Mamadu Can Do!

Who doesn't love a full-circle story, particularly one that shows what the combination of hard work and generosity can create.

Please meet Mamadu, a Hope International 2023 graduate, who was granted (through one of you likely reading this) a scholarship to attend Monrovia Vocational Training Center to pursue a certification in heavy duty mechanics.

After 18 months of study, Mamadu is set to graduate on September 30th, 2025. He says while he had immense interest and a strong desire to learn, he had little experience or exposure. Mamadu studied and persevered and is excitedly awaiting graduation. He has applied for a job with the National Transit Authority (fingers crossed) and is waiting to hear if he will get an interview.

While attending his training, Mamadu has remained connected to Hope International and has taken on the support role of keeping the busses up and running. He said that "on two occasions I was called in the middle of the night to repair the bus after it had broken down on the way to the airport to pick up our international partners." Yes, I can confirm that this happened as I was on the bus!

After graduation he will pursue employment in his field and continue to assist Hope International, using the skills he has obtained. He hopes someday that the school can offer its own heavy duty mechanics program and he would love to teach.

He wanted to share the following message with you.

All I imagined after high school was to return to the garage but Hope International changed that by allowing me to add value to my life. Thank you to the one who provided the funds for my vocational training. I am so grateful for the help. Thank you for making me a professional man.
