Land of the Free

Liberia, which means “land of the free”, declared independence on July 26, 1847, and became the first republic on the African Continent. A complex and brutal history followed that led to Liberia’s civil war(s).

Today, we celebrate with our Liberian friends and partners their independence and look forward to a future of liberty for all.

Press on Princess

The Hope International School Press Club was established in 2020 through the help of Sekou Aminata Konneh, an alumnus and former Vice President of the Hope International School Alumni Association.

The Press Club is dedicated to providing journalistic opportunities among Hope International students to gain skills in writing, editing, interviewing, and photography. While also fostering teamwork and communication. It can also enhance students' understanding of current events, as well as school and community issues.

Princess, an 11th grade student, heads the Press Club. She became a student at Hope International in 2021 and joined the Press Club the same year. According to staff she is "one of the smartest and strongest ladies among her peers". Princess was appointed to be the President of the Press Club in 2024. As she dreams of becoming an Investigative Journalist, Princess is doing everything possible to keep the press club moving strong to improve her skills and get prepared for her future career.

The club meets three afternoons a week and each morning the Press Club delivers the news to the student body about current events, school events, and community activities. The club also conducts public speaking training for interested students.

Through your generosity, Hope International continues to be a place where dreams and preparation meet, building futures one student at a time.

Celebrating 17 Summers

As summer gets underway, we celebrate together 17 years of Hope. The campus is emptying and will soon begin readying for the doors to open for our 18th year. Over the summer, we will be sharing some stories that there just didn't seem to be time for in the busyness of the school year.

We wish the students and staff of Hope International and you, the community of Hope, some rest and fun over the next couple of months. May we all find reasons for celebration and connection and living generously.
