Starting at Square One

Dear Generous Friends of Hope,

December has arrived and maybe, like us, you are experiencing that confusing feeling of what I have come to call, almost hope. These last couple of years have done a number on our well-being, nervous systems, physical and mental health. Even the sweetest times can feel tinged with the “yeah, but it could all fall apart tomorrow.”  And while all of this is true, it is also true that The Hope Project continues to grow and shine. This has EVERYTHING to do with the STUDENTS, the STAFF, and YOU. This is much more than almost hope, this is the real deal.

Over these next few weeks, we will be sharing with you, our partners and friends, examples of our own, collective brand of HOPE. The metaphor we have been using this season is that of a quilt. The quilt squares, that when arranged and combined together, have really outdone themselves with their beauty this year.

December Giving

It seems fair to mention that the content might feel a bit more“asky” then we generally are. We hope that our asking for financial support feels invitational and celebrative. As I’m sure you are aware, December giving is a big part of budgets in the non-profit world. We are no different. The gifts generously given to us this month help fund the operations of our school throughout the year.It really is as simple as that.

More than just asking, we are wanting to show you throughout the month, how your acts of generosity have woven together into this quilt of Hope. The impact of your gifts is profound.

Back to School

Appropriately, the students returning in November, is our quilt square number one. We had more students desire to attend than we have ever had. Because you gave, our doors have remained open(aside from country-wide mandated school closures)throughout the pandemic. Staff have not gone without a salary. Students have been supported and educated. It is something that we should say more often, nearly 1,200 students who otherwise would not likely have had the opportunity to attend school, are. That my friends, is hope.

If you have gifts to share, we will welcome them. Together, we are The Hope Project.

Thankful Wednesday

Dear Friends of Hope,

Together, we did it! On GivingTuesday we asked, and you answered. Your generous hearts helped us to raise over $4,000 for our hardworking teachers and staff. Your collective gifts will make their holidays brighter. Our hearts are full, and we thank you for giving so deeply.

Grateful for you. Grateful for them.

Hope Arriving in Your Mailbox...

Dear Friends of Hope,

Even though we now enter this second holiday season of a world still marked with caution and loss, anxiety and loneliness for many, a sense of HOPE is beginning to stir. Maybe you felt it when your children returned to school, or you took a walk with a friend. Maybe you are depleted of HOPE and looking for reminders of what is still good. This year, no matter where your heart lands currently, we can together celebrate the brightness of HOPE.

Through your generosity and love, through all the years and through these last few particularly, The Hope Project is standing strong, and our school is dare we say, thriving and like the colors of the card above, bursting with HOPE.

Be watching your mailbox for our green envelope and our year-end invitation to join us in sharing together with the students of Liberia who will continue to carry their personal and collective HOPE into Liberia and the world. Year after year, you have helped us reach our school operation needs with your generosity during the holiday season.

With year-end approaching and GivingTuesday happening on Tuesday, November 30th, you will be hearing from us a bit more than normal.

As always, we are deeply grateful for all the bright and beautiful generosity you share with Liberia.
