We were able to share the good news with Joy yesterday that she will have what she needs to stay in school and graduate. She has already shown such tenacity and resiliency after experiencing devastating hardship. How beautiful that her load could be lightened through your generosity.

As always, we asked, you answered and hope and hearts expanded.

Joy Matters.

Each month, through the generosity of many, we are able to send funds to Liberia for the operations of Hope International School. These funds pay the 60 teachers and staff who educate 1,200 students on any given day. Nearly all students who attend the school are in poverty. In the 4th poorest country in the world, this is just a fact. While they likely experience food scarcity, it is clear they are rich in community, family, connection and even joy.

I was contacted this week by Hope International Senior Class President, Michael, seeking assistance for one of his classmates, Joy.

A 19-year-old senior, Joy has supported herself since the age of 12 when she tragically lost both her parents to Ebola. Michael shared Joy's determination to graduate high school while currently facing food and shelter insecurity. A local woman in the community (who attends our Sew Much Hope program) took Joy into her home, though she herself experiences food insecurity.

Michael asked if The Hope Project could send the funds that would help Joy complete her last two semesters of high school. The total needed? $300.00 ($150.00 per semester). I thanked Michael for his care and concern for his classmate and wanted to share it with you.

I know that we can’t help every student and family in such a direct way with food and shelter, but we are going to ensure that Joy has what she needs to graduate from high school. Want to help Joy? You can donate below.  Any additional funds raised will benefit others like her.

What we all do together matters. What the teachers do matters. Friends matter. Joy matters.

Together, we are The Hope Project.

Gift of Science.

We have a Hope Project Partner who loves science. In honor of their employees, who also love science, he gives us a gift each month to supply the science lab at Hope International with needed equipment and supplies.

Below is a video of our teachers sharing what this generosity provided for the students and school.

We love how creatively and generously you all live in this world!
